We have a rack with number of ET200SP 4xRTD/TC modules with bases without RTD for CJC (type A0). We have dedicated module, channels of which we intend to use as reference junction.

I have done config as per manual:

-Channel is set to PT100 Climatic Range with Degrees C

-Reference junction is set to "- "Reference channel of group 0"

-This is the one and only channel with RTD with these settings

-All Type K TCs on all other modules on the same rack are set to use "Reference channel of group 0" as their reference junction.

Reading the manual I am confused with the heading "Configuring with PROFINET GSD file" - does it mean I cannot use the configuration in the TIA portal project directly and need to export it as GSD (and then re-import)?

(I cannot immediately test this config on real hardware unfortunately)

it works both.
You can configure the module directly from the internal hw-catalog of TIA, or you can use the GSDML file. The GSDML file can not be exported. The file can be downloaded via SIOS. Afterwrads the complete ET200SP station has to be configured via GSD/GSDML. But as said, it's not necessary.
The manual only describes the parameters, but these are the same with both methods.

What do you have to watch out for when using thermocouples if the expected value is not displayed?

Hi,
the RTD (PT100) itself does not need a cold junction, but with this configuration the RTD itself is used as reference for the other thermo couples.
As the owner of this thread does only have a BaseUnit "A0" without internal reference, it is possible with this configuration.

The RTD(PT100) will be used as reference for "Group 0" (like a "virtual" construct).
If all other channels with thermo couples are also configured to use the reference of group 0, they will use this RTD. This does also work across other modules.
