Also which version of TIA Portal are you going to use? Depending the HMI panel you are using and TIA Portal version, smart server license is not needed anymore. Best regards, Cocolino

Depending on the damagement of the HMI you may have the option to still connect to the HMI with Automation License Manager of your Engineering Station and transfer the license. If the HMI is not working any more, you may start a service request to restore the license with the help of Siemens. Please see How do you restore defective license keys and authorizations?.
