Context: Retrieval of RFID identifiers/tags in ThingWorx environment through Kepware/OPC UA server connexion. The low level interface is an industrial computer running on Windows, without internet connexion and no Siemens panel.

Way-in: by opportunity, I tried to pull this off using a Siemens Simatic RF1070R RFID reader that I interface to the local computer with HMI Option+. HMI Option+ runtime/configurator allows me to acknowledge the reading of the RFID card and display the card UID I would like to export to my ThingWorx environment. The configurator also gives the tag containing the UID.

Problem: Despite communication parameters in the configurator including OPC server related fields, it seems this OPC UA connexion is only made possible through a Siemens panel (which I do not have). Trying to setup the OPC connexion with my server (Kepware), it is unable to successfully reach the HMI Option+ endpoint.

Would somebody have any input to this situation ? Workaround, gap identification, further explanation to this limitation ?

sry for Offtopic but I must say my opinion. I like your post about describe your problem, your approach and also good looking system of post. Sry, I know that no one can be perfect with problem description but I see probably after long time finally one post about problem what is described very good, to my feeling. Good luck to solve your problem but sry, not my help here because of no experience, maybe later in case. All best...
