Is it possible to read / write to the CMR2040 directly from WInCC 7.4 without using a BM?

We only need to send a message based on a single event generated from a script within WinCC, but don't want to have to install a second network socket just to change a BM value rather than go direct to the CMR unit.

Another option would be to connect the CMR to an S7 PLC we have lots of those already on site.
