outdate firmware version on my new S7-1200

DFUERTES Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Hello, I have a new S7-1200 CPU 1214C, DC/DC/Relais, 14DI/10DO/2AI 6ES7214-1HG40-0XB0 with firmware version 4.5.1. I want to load a program from another equal CPU but with firmware version 4.2. so I think I need outdate my new CPU to this firmware version. Can I outdate my new CPU from firmware version 4.5.1 to 4.2 version? Thanks for your help

Can I outdate my new CPU from firmware version 4.5.1 to 4.2 version? Thanks for your help Leave the firmware in the PLC as V4.5. Load the program to it even if it says firmware V4.2. The PLC will now work as if it is a V4.2. The PLC works in compatibility mode. I can also say that I have done so very recently using Step7 V15.1 loading a firmware V4.3 program in a PLC loaded with V4.5.

Towome Platinum Expert Joined: 7/9/2015 Last visit: 1/7/2026 Posts: 4493 Rating: (644)	Hi, also check Release S7-1200 Firmware informations V4.5 There you can read: An S7-1200 CPU with version 4.5 is replacement compatible with an S7-1200 and firmware version 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4. This enables the use of a real existing CPU with firmware version 4.5 with an engineered V4.0, V4.1, V4.2, V4.3 or V4.4 based on an existing TIA portal older versions project. The new firmware features cannot be used in that case. Regards, Towome

How do you load a project into an S7-1200 CPU if its firmware version cannot be selected in the hardware catalog of STEP 7 (TIA Portal)? regards sancruz
