I opened an issue before related to this topic but it was just a minor complication on my way to solve bigger issue which I'll describe in due course.

The first step I did was to compile Hello world app with aarch64-linux-gnu on my Ubuntu 22.04 machine. It run with no issues. Then I tried more complex project which compiled but didn't work on IoT2050 because of mismatch in glibc version - my machine has 2.34 while IoT2050 has 2.31. No problem here, it was expected.

So I tried to compile on the device itself but realised it cannot be done as a compilation toolchain for a stack used has some precompiled binaries compiled for x86_64 architecture. So no luck here.

The next step was to download SDK from download page for IoT2050. I tried to run stuff from the SDK on my machine but kept getting glibc mismatch errors (yes, I did run sudo ./relocate_sdk.sh) which was wierd. My colleague did try on his debian 11.2 machine and no issues there. His system glibc's version matches the SDK one. Therefore, we concluded that SDK is using system resources. To fix this, any command working with SDK has to be run as

chroot /path/to/sdk cmd

 usually within the SDK itself if any output is expected.

I also tried to build docker image from this public repository https://github.com/siemens/meta-iot2050 but generated docker uses glibc even higher than on my machine.

So, question 1 - is there any way to run SDK on my Ubuntu machine (or any machine with higher glibc version for that matter) without chroot command?

And question 2 - is it possible to generate docker image with matching glibc version?
