Why can't I use TO_PositioningAxis as FB input with s7-1510?

Ufuk1985 Experienced Member Joined: 3/2/2017 Last visit: 10/15/2025 Posts: 98 Rating: (3)	Hi I created a FB to control my TOs with s7-1512SP (fw 2.8) and I had an input i_Axis with datatype TO_PositioningAxis. It was working well. But now I am trying to use it with s7-1510SP (fw 2.9) it is not working. Am I missing something? Or it just doesn't support it. Is there a workaround? Using TIA 17 , Copied from 1512 TIA17 as well. MC blocks was also red I had to re-define them. But I also tried creating a new FB. Could not use TO_PositioningAxis as input datatype aswell

The project with 1512 I was talking about, I realized Techonogy Objects are MC V3.0 But on my new project I used MC v6.0. I changed them to V3.0 now it is working. But 6.0 is more up to date. Do I have to use a different datatype with V6.0

When I create one v3.0 TO they all convert to v3.0 and I can use TO_PositioningAxis as FB input datatype. Re-defining blocks is ok. But if I can not use it as input datatype I also can not use expressions like "i_Axis.ActualPosition"

Now I just created a fresh new prject to test. and it works. Something is different/buggy with my current project but I can not understand why.

0_Einstein Grandmaster Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 12/31/2025 Posts: 16342 Rating: (2521)	The instructions in the project need to globally get updated to whatever instruction revisions you have selected in the project. When project pieces are copied between projects, they do not go through the instruction revision process and get imported directly as if your current project has the exact same instruction revision settings. If you widen the instruction pane, you can see a somewhat large blue squiggly icon at the top of the instructions. Click that to update the project blocks / instructions to the current portal revision and instruction selections. Then recompile / rebuild all - twice if the first one fails (thought twice only fixed my project revision change issues once in 13 years of using portal). Ufuk1985 No I copied form another project.
