Tips, more education; SIMORIVE 611 SYSTEM has been very good system in Siemens drive histroy 

Even it discontinued for years, there are still more than tens millions units used around the world.

from beging of it developed in 1991 from 611A to 611D (1995) to 611U (about 1999) they all use same kind of power section (some call drive body/power case) --that means if you insert control card of 611A it function as 611A, and 611D ,611U ,the same idea. control card plus powersection we call it inverter. (Dc 600V in and AC 200 to 400V out) , 611 drive system also use the same kind of power supply module.

It is very good at last your m/c running. But I am more interested in if you making decision that old 50A drive was defective or not sure, and also why you use brand new Siemens drive (0CA2) 50A to run the motor in condition of switching motor leads U,V,W, otherwise there will be alarm. I worked for Siemens from 1989 and even worked in the 611A drive production line in the Germany--But I never meet that stranger problem.

If your new Siemens drive module 50A is in the situation like you described --that , I think you can call Siemens services for free and Siemens should give you compensation .

normally that problem will only happen when some one touched motor feedback (Cable for rotor position and tachometer) or some touched motor leads (connection for U,V,W interchanged).

I visited Siemens SIMODRIVE module production Factory in Erlangen (near Nuremberg), Germany more than 5 times, and watching the production line there --all sequences  controlled by computer.

100% can not be wrong. and every module will be tested before ship to customer. ( I have worked in the final test line in 1990) so I don't understand how your new drive module not working normal.

Another information is SIMODRIVE power section (drive module) can be used for 611A, 611D, and 611U, I don't know in you shop or nearby Siemens service station have ability to test it by 611U.
