Today suddenly when I am opening my old Wincc project or creating any new project error message is pop up " project manager cann't start basis application XREF"

what could be the possible reason???

Hai ,

i have seen similiar issue at one of customer place.

1. exit wincc was configured for a button.

2.accessing scada pc from another pc through remote desk top access and pressed the exit wincc button. after that made log off.

3. when restarted the pc, xref error started. couldnt able to open old project, coudnt create new project etc was the outcome.

4. restart the pc via remote acces-- no result

5. restarted the pc directly (not via remote access- from that panel only restart command given). then everything become ok.

6. tries step 2 again. same issue

7. repeated the step 5, become ok

so if your case is similiar, avoid remote desktop deactivating the project.

customer sent all details to suport request-- so they got the reply as "IT WILL BE AS CHARGABLE BASIS"

after that only we found this observation

Thanks VIPZ, your observation really helped. I rely on using remote desktop access very much and never had problem before. I had tried all other solutions and no help. Until I saw your response in here and I gave a shot and went to physically rebooted the desktop and it worked! The run-time environment is Windows XP Pro SP3 32bit. I hope this will help more people later.
