SEARCH:-EDIT LOCAL USER GROUP

YOU FIND "USER" AND "GROUPS"

OPEN GROUP AND LOOK FOR - "SIMATIC HMI GROUP"

OPEN PROPERTY WITH DOUBLE CLICK ON SIMATIC HMI GROUP AND ADD YOUR USER NAME IN MEMBER LIST.

REBOOT PC AND OPEN WINCC. 

I ALSO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM  AND PERMANENTLY SOLVED BY ABOVE METHOD.

I am having the same issue as the OP.

SQL Server 2005

'WinCC Error - SQL Server cannot access database"

I have tried to do a few steps above without success.

I have zero knowledge of PLC's, SQL, Siemens.

This all started when the system was shutdown incorrectly. I am correct in thinking that WinCC is unable to see/communicate with the SQL Server?

On the outside of the Siemens Simatic Rack PC the LED for PROFIBUS/MPI does not blink, however, the Ethernet cable plugged in from the computer, via a dedicated switch, to the Siemens CPU317-2 PN/DP - the LED on the Siemens is blinking.

A previous poster indicated they had to modify the 'Server Authentication' from Windows to SQL Server Mode. This may be where my issue is, however, I have don't know how to config to the proper Server location.

See attached picture with the error message at the bottom of the display.

Anyone have any ideas how to proceed?

 I fixed this my uninstalling and then reinstalling the WinCC software.

Now I am working on why WinCC is unable to see the data from the PLC. I am working on a possible networking issue.

This is my first reply in the forum. Please navigate and find in Group Policy editor>Security settings>Local Policies>User rights Assignments. Then find Logon As a Service option on right hand side and just find and add the user which name is NT SERVICE\MSSQL WINCC. Then you can start sql wincc server manually or automatically with restart. It worked for me
