See if it gives time to create and read the string For i = 0 To 9 temp = "dbUserSirName[" & CStr(i) & "]" aux = SmartTags(temp) ShowSystemAlarm(" Value: " & aux) Next Good luck

Can't seem to get the for loop functioning prior to first assigning all values manually . Thx for the help, if someone else can find it out would love to have an update on this issue.

Murof Platinum Expert Joined: 8/3/2009 Last visit: 12/19/2025 Posts: 16612 Rating: (1943)	Hello AutoGen_5131636 there is a system behaviour regarding user defined datatypes: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109813306/109377913227 -> this sounds exactly like in your case with the Array I made a few tests, if I have not used the single array tag names in a Script or a Screen then it does not work as you have described. If I use them in any scrip or screen (It does not have to be loaded) then the tagnames are recognized and I can use them in the loop in Script. -> But there is a second thin you have to keep in mind, if you use a Tag in the Script you have to switch the acquisition mode to cyclic continous because only then the values are loaded (use a relativly big cycle for reducing communication load) with this both information it works for me bye Murof

I've it working now just made a function which calls all the tags and put's it in the array. On my side it doenst seem that i need to have it on cyclic continous mode for it to work. But if it stops working (now on a test HMI only testing this use case). It's the first thing i'll try. For now i've working code just not scalable and future proof. Thanks for all your help experts! Regards, JvD. Edit: some code snippets if anyone is wondering: Calling the function that fills the array. (Used excel to quickly do the lines) Calling the function: Array will be filled.
