Hello all,

I know this is not a new topic and we have been reading through some posts and trying some remedies but here we are.

We have S7 and TIA portal programs installed on a Windows 7 64 bit OS laptop. 

Under device manager the MPI interface is listed under the network interfaces (please refer to attached doc). However, under the PC/PG options the MPI interface is missing. I read in another post that Add/Remove Select button is not functional on Windows 7 and frankly we don't even have that button on out interface. So we can't go that route. We also checked the driver software and they seem to be running Ok. We right clicked on the MPI driver software and ran a "Update driver Software" and it came back saying the drivers are up to date. 

We also tried the following but no luck. 

I have also attached the pics of the newly generated logfile after running S7epaimp64x, and the MPI interface is missing there. 

Any ideas how we could solve this issue? Thanks in advance.

We are using a serial (9pin connector) Siemens PC Adapter V5.1 (6ES7 972-0CA23-0XA0).

Attached please find a list of interfaces that are available.

I don't think (not a 100% sure), that you will be able to use that adapter to connect your PC to the PLC.

We will purchase the recommended MPI cable and hopefully it will work for us.

Iam facing similar problem, iam using USB adapter A2. It was working, suddenly it stopped communication. Iam not finding this adapter in set PGPC interface screen. I had also uninstalled and reinstalled Step 7 v5.5 on Windows 7. How to resolve please?

 Your adapter might be damaged also, have you tried with another adapter, that you know is working?

Sometimes when installing updates to other programs in your Windows, it tends the cause problems to already installed functions. Try to see if your Step7 version has updates released that you don't have installed. If there are updates available, install them, that might also fix the issue.
