I'm having some trouble with a project using this hardware and software combination:

• 6AV2100-0AA02-4AH5– WinCC BASIC V20
• 6ED1058-0BA08-0YA1– LOGO! Soft Comfort V8
• 6ED1052-2CC08-0BA1– LOGO! RCo
• 6AV2123-2GB03-0AX0– KTP700 Basic

In this project, I'm trying to automate a mounting line that can vary. The line has 8 stages, and each stage can have up to 6 actions (like mixing, drying, flipping, etc.), which cannot be performed at the same time.

I've already created a UI where the operator saves all the intended actions, but now I'm struggling with the part of sending one step at a time to the PLC.

Below, you'll find some photos of the HMI UI and recipe tags. I was thinking of having the PLC increase a tag connected to the HMI every time a step is completed. Then, the HMI would send back the next action. However, I'm not sure how to implement this.

Hi ixo65, thanks again for helping me.

My internal C/Python programmer instinct initially led me to use strings, but I quickly realized that’s impossible. So my next idea was to use a tag called "Etapa"to communicate with the LOGO!.

To explain a bit further, here’s how the actions work (with translations in brackets):

• Action 1: Lavagem (Cleaning)– Turns on an output
• Action 2: Dessorar (Extracting)– Turns on an output
• Action 3: Agitar (Mixing)– Turns on an output
• Action 4: Cortar (Cutting)– Turns on an output
• Action 5: Aviso (Warning)– Turns off all outputs and waits for an HMI signal
• Action 6: Paragem (Stopping)– Turns off all outputs

Each step is stored in a tag Ex(e.g., for the first step, I store the chosen action in E1). My idea is that when the PLC signals that a step is complete, I update the Etapatag with the value in the next step (e.g., from E2, then E3, and so on).

Following the previous image, the system starts with theEtapatag set toE1, which is1.

1. After 30 liters are added, the PLC activates a counter that sends the value 2 to the HMI. The HMI receives this value and updates Etapa with the value in E2(2).
2. After 40 liters are extracted, the PLC activates a counter that sends the value 3 to the HMI. The HMI receives this value and updates Etapa with E3(3).
3. After 10 minutes, the PLC activates a counter that sends the value 4 to the HMI. The HMI receives this value and updates Etapa with E4(4).
4. After 5 minutes, the PLC activates a counter that sends the value 5 to the HMI. The HMI receives this value and updates Etapa with E5(5).
5. After 5 minutes of everything being stopped, the PLC activates a counter that sends the value 6 to the HMI. The HMI receives this value and updates Etapa with E6(6).
6. Now, the PLC waits until a button on the HMI is pressed. When pressed, the counter value updates to 7, and the Etapa tag is set to E7(1).
7. After 10 liters are added, the PLC activates a counter that sends the value 8 to the HMI. The HMI receives this value and updates Etapa with E8(6).

I figured it out! (I think )

I can use a multiplexer on the "Etapa" tag, with an "EtapaIndice" tag (which will be incremented by the PLC counter when a stage is completed). Every time EtapaIndice increments, the value of Etapa will update to the action I previously stored.

Can you check if I'm right? Below is a photo of the multiplexer.
