I have a Profinet Controller and 2 IO-Devices:

Controller is CPU 1512SP F-1 PN, IO-Device is IM 155-6 PN HF, and old SCALANCE X216. I assigned Device names to devices, and downloaded CPU, and the Controller assigned IP addresses to devices. Then I had to replace the old X216 with a new XB216. What should I set up on the XB216 so that the PLC assigns an IP address to the new XB216. Can a PLC assign an IP address to the XB216, like for other IO devices?

The PLC can only assing the IP and Device name if you have enabled that option in the hardware config. Also the device has to match what you have in the hardware configuration and the Topology has to be correct.

If you have changed the switch type, did you change it in the hw config of the project also and downloaded the changes to the PLC?

I know that Controller can assign IP-Address to device by the device name and it works. However when I have the new XB216, it doesn't work. What should I set to make it work for the new XB216?
