Hello, i've been looking around the siemens site for any information regarding the possibility of a redundant WinCC setup with a pair of S7-1500R.

The Setup would be as follows:

2x Redundant Servers paired with 4 wincc Clients

2x S7-1500R

I already worked on a few projects with S7-400H with a redundant wincc setup. We used Step7 as an engineering station to program/config and download WinCC to servers and clients.

Would that possible with Portal?

I read the documantation and I don't seem to understand why I need to write code to detect a Failed connection with the primary PLC when the two PLC's are configured with a "system" IP adress...  I was under the impression that WinCC would see the redundant pair as one plc, hence the need of a system ip adress and a virtual mac adress.

Principle of software redundancy

Addressing

Use the device IP addresses of the two redundant controllers instead of the system IP addresses.

System tags

Create the required system tags in the tag management for redundancy control and monitoring.

For each communication connection, you create system tags that contain the corresponding connection name:

• @<Connection name>@<System tag for the software redundancy>

The address of the system tag must point to a free area in the PLC.

Script for software redundancy

To monitor the software redundancy, create a script, in ANSI-C or VBScript, for example. The script is called cyclically, e.g. every 10 seconds.

In this script you define the switching between primary CPU and backup CPU.

To run the script as a cyclic action in runtime, enable the "Global Script Runtime" application in the start-up list of the computer.

Redundant communication with Wincc V8.0  through Simatic S7-1200, S7-1500 Channel , OMS+ working ok when one cpu fails/stop the othe cpu communicating with Wincc.

This is ok but the following i had observed and any body had the other solution for this.

1. CWD for this connection (OM+) unable to create the script to provide alternate IP of the other CPU.

2. If both cpu are working ok and the cable from Primary cpu to swtich got disconnected whether wincc communication still establish between 1517H Station through Backup CPU.
