JW.net Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hi, Using WinCC flexible compact for the second time now I have a little question concerning alarm screens My alarms are booleans in a DB, and it looks like the alarm management - discrete alarms only accepts words / intergers now i copy the alarms from the DB in memory words with a symbolic name alarmArray, but this is not what i want. i would like to point to booleans whit a usefull name like "Fault motor lane 1" is there a way to make this work? When youdeclare a message under the "Dircrete Alarm", under the Properties > Events, you can select "Activate" -> that mean, if this alarm messages come you can project a nother function for a sample "SetBit"...... greetings,

skimmer Posts: 317 Rating: (18)	Hi JW, Unfortunately the alarm message trigger can only be declared in WinCC flexible with the data type 'INT/WORD'. You have to change the plc DB to have the alarm triggers declared in this way rather than as type BOOL. The individual bits can still be triggered in the plc code in the same way. If your main concern is to use symbolic addressing then you have to take care with the symbol name of the DB and the DB elements themselves. It's unfortunate that you then cannot use a symbolic name in Step 7 for each individual BOOL, you can however create a tag in wincc flexible which does have a BOOL value for the alarm bit. I hope this makes sense!
