I am trying to communicate between WinCC Flexible and a TP 170B colour touch-screen HMI unit.

The only communications lead I have at present is a USB MPI adaptor (my laptop doesn't have any other 'usefull' ports).

I have set up my PG-PC interface to MPI via USB, and have told WinCC Flex the station address of the HMI (1, as it's sitting on the test bench in our office).

My first question is - can it be done?

My second, if applicable - is there something else I need to do first?

Thanks for the reply, but now I am confused. On the rear of the HMI unit is a dip-switch, which can (apparently) be configured between RS232/485 and DP/MPI (which is the 'shipped' setting). If the unit doesn't have this interface, why the option?

(I do admit, none of the ports are actually labelled as DP/MPI, but I am clutching straws here)

edit - reading the FAQ, am I to understand I must set up a DP/MPI network in order to transfer the project?

Is there a simple way to communicate directlywith the TP170B, from either WinCC Flex or ProTool?

I know it will mean buying / constructing the cable, and possibly using a different PC, but I need to find a way.
