Converting BCD (4-bits) to INT

Cookie monster Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi, For a while am I looking for a way to convert4 inputs of a bcd-switch into a decimal number for futher use in my program. Converting 8 bits into a decimal number not very hard, but I want to use only the 4 first bits (the bcd switch is connected to 4 digital inputs. eg: I10.0 to I10.3). I only need decimal number 0 to 10, so need only 4 bits. The other inputs (I10.4 to I10.7) must stay be free progammable and may not effect the convertion. I could program with AND-poorts every decimal seperate, but I thing it should be possible to do this more easy. Is there anybody how to program this? Regards, Cookie Monster, Matthew.

Pee Ell Sea Posts: 672 Rating: (57)	Hi, Just to be different I like the shift function as this can be adapted to work when the BCD input is not right justified. i.e. L IB10 SLW 12 SRW 12 TRANSFER (T) Assuming a 16 BIT register and not trusting the system to fill the left byte with zeroes.
