RS232 communications setting tab missing in SIMOCODE software

Sudheendra Posts: 62 Rating: (1)	Hi all, I am trying to communicate through RS-232 in the Simocode ES software. The software version is SIMOCODE ES 2007 SP2. I am unable to find the RS232 communcation tab itself in the Load to PC or Load to switching device dailog boxes.Attached is the screenshot from my computer where the tab is available. This tab is not available in my customer's computer through which I am trying to communicate to Simocode. Both the software versions are same. I also uninstalled and re-installed the software in that computer but still the tab is not showing up. Please let me know if I am missing anything here? Mr. SIRIUS Bronze-Expert Joined: 5/17/2010 Last visit: 12/19/2025 Posts: 227 Rating: (28)	Dear Sudheendra, Nilesh is right, if you do not have a serial port and you use the USB PC-cable or USB-to-serial converter please plug in the cable before starting SIMOCODE ES. If SIMOCODE ES does not detect a serial port the register is deactivated. Best Regards Michael

Sudheendra Posts: 62 Rating: (1)	Thanks Nilesh and Mr.SIRIUS. I installed the SIRIUS_USB_PC_CABLE_Driver and then the Tab started showing up. But I am not using the Sirius USB PC cable (3UF7941-0AA00-0). I am using the Serial cable (3UF7940-0AA00-0) with a third party serial to USB adapter. Is there any other driver software for this cable (3UF7940-0AA00-0)? If so, can you please provide the link to download? Right now I am not able to communicate with simocode and it is giving the RS232 error (60::0001). I searched for the solution on the forum but I am not able to solve it. Please let me know your suggestions. Thanks, Sudheendra

And not all are 100% compatible. That's the reason why Siemens offers a tested USB-to-serial converter. Do you have the possiblity to try another converter (e.g. Digitus or Manhattan) or the tested Siemens converter? The Serial-USB converter that I am using is by BAFO and I tested it by looping Tx and Rx and I got the echo in Hyper-terminal which confirmed me that the USB-Serial adapter was working fine. But, its driver might not be compatible with the simocode cable. I will try to use some other USB-serial converter and check. Thanks, Sudheendra
