Siemens VMWare with Windows7???

Last week i bought one Laptop(Core i5). the laptop designed only for windows vista or windows 7.I installed windows XP in my Laptop. the system is tooo.. slow. i have step7 V5.4 (SP 4) it doesnot support windows 7. so i decided to change my Operating system to windows 7. when i was attend siemes scada (Wincc v7.0) course i got siemens VMWare player.VMWare player have inbuild wincc software, Doubts: 1. If i install windows 7 (not windows XP or dual OS) in my Laptop can i install Siemens VMWare player. 2. If can next i have to install step7 V5.4 (SP 4) and Wincc flexible 2008. Is it possible. 3. i will use my software only for my software testing purpose.(VMWare does not communicate with plc's)

And for the moment I don't have problems with Step7 and WinCC. Also with connection to the CPU. Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

With VMware you can go online with USB-PC-Adapter (USB to MPT/PB, up to 1,5 kBit/s) CP5711 (USB to MPT/PB, up to 12 kBit/s) Eternet Card (requires a S7-CPU with PROFINET)

Ates Posts: 198 Rating: (19)	for you it will work very good, however i want to write here that wmvare does not support pci-cardbus cards. So people that use old cp5512's can not use it with wmvare. (Usb adapters works fine.)

marco.loffredo Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Hi miami, I'm using a configuration which is not far from yours (win7 home as host, VMWare with woin xp Pro Sp3 and Step7 v5.5) but I cannot go online with my USB-PC Adapter. Once I connect theUSB-PC adapter to the laptop, windows try to install (with succes) the driver. The reason could be that my laptop have only USB3.0 ports. Are you agree? I'm thinking to install the USB-PC adapter driver (the one released with step7 v5.5) on the host (win7), what do you think aboit this solution? thanks, marco

In the Player Menu you can select "removable devices". You will see a list of all USB (and other) devices. Select the Adapter, and select connect (if it is not jet set). I think, i's necessary to have the driver installed in Host and Guest. You must use the short MPI Cable (with 4 wire), due the adapter gets its power from the S7-CPU.
