Olli Rajala Posts: 17 Rating: (0)	Hello, I'm using Logo 0BA7 for my home electricity. Here in Finland we need to have heaters for cars, because it can be -30C during winter and it's not good for your car to cold start it all the time. It's an electrical heater, so you plug your car to a wall outlet and it will be heated. I know how to make it work with weekly timer so that the car will be ready when I'm leaving to work. But, it would be nice if the logic would also consider the outside temperature. So, when it's 0C, it would be on for 45 minutes and when it's -15C, it would be on for 2 hours. Any ideas how to do this?

(a) recommendations on hardware to measure temperature OR (b) tips for the coding of the program? (HARDWARE) I am not from Finland and do not know what you have available in your town / city. If you could get a device to deliver 0 - 10V to represent the temperature then you can use the base LOGO. Otherwise you will have to get an add-on card to handle a temperature sensor. Personally I will go for the 0 - 10V option. (PROGRAM) Let us assume you want to start your car at 08h00 and that the heater is never ON for longer than 60minutes. Use your day-of-week schedule to trigger an "event" at 07h00. The action is then delayed by a TON timer. The delay is calculated in relation to the temperature. The lower the temperature, the less delay will take place. ----- That is a rough outline of my thoughts.. hopefully it will get the conversation in this thread started. Greetings. w

Olli Rajala Posts: 17 Rating: (0)	Yes, I was mainly interested in the program side. Of course I need to find the suitable temperature measurement thing, but it's probably not too hard. Thanks for your suggestions and example. Haven't yet had time to look it fully through, but at least I have now some starting point. This project will have about 30 inputs and 30 outpus (+/- some for both) when finished. Two will be those car heater things, some for outside lights and most of the rest for inside lights.

Olli Rajala Posts: 17 Rating: (0)	Yes, I was aware of the IO limitations. I'm using v7 now, because 8 is not yet available here. At least I was told so... I have currently only one controller + one 8 in/8 out module for the first phase of this renovation project. We calculated that probably with 3 controllers fully loaded this should be possible. But, the rest of the project will happen in 1-2 years, not this autumn. Luckily... :)
