S7 1200 ethernet communication

Rew@ Posts: 31 Rating: (1)	Hello everyone, I am working on communication between two CPUs S7 1200 and S7 300. I'm facing a problem regarding ethernet port-2 of the S7 1200 CPU (6ES7 215-1AG31-0XB0). I have successfullyestablished communication between CPU300 and CPU1200. The ethernet connections as follows: CPU 300 port-1 = PC connection port-2 = 1200CPU link and CPU 1200 port-1 = 300CPU link port-2 =no connection But when I configure the network as follows communication cannot be established: CPU 1200 port-1 =PC connection port-2 =300CPU link and CPU 300 port-1 =1200CPU link port-2 =no connection (the link LED at port-2 on S7-1200CPU doesn't glow at all when link is connected) Please suggest how I can establish communication using port-2 of S71200. Pittiplatsch Posts: 1368 Rating: (128)	Hello, are you sure, port 2 of S7-1200 is working? it seems,that the port is defect. Have you tried to connect a PC to port 2 of S7-1200 and made online diagnostic for example? Just to know, if the port is working...

Regards, Rew@ From what I read, both ports of the s7-1200 seem to operate properly and allow connection in both directions. It is only when the s7-300 is in the middle that you have this problem. Is that correct? If that is the problem, then this should be in the s7-300 conference so people who know more about the s7-300 ports and how to configure and / or enable them for pass-through can help.

If that is the problem, then this should be in the s7-300 conference so people who know more about the s7-300 ports and how to configure and / or enable them for pass-through can help. Well its actually the S7-1200 which is giving problemwhen being configured individually. Its the port-2 of S7-1200 thats not responding to the ethernet link while I could successfully work with the first port-1 of the same CPU. Thank you for the suggestion and I'll also post my problemin the s7-300 conference.

Dear huggy_d1, Well I think it is the S7-1200 which is having some hardware fault. The port-1 of the S7-1200 works properly but the port -2 does not respond at all. I wonder how is it possible because the ports are in one package. I also tried the PRONETA s/w to check several CPUs in a network. This S7-1200 is detected only when connected to port -1. Waiting for some suggestion. Regards, Rew@

Power down the s7-1200, pop out the terminals for all the power & I/O, remove network connections, and take it to some spot with a light and magnifying glass (like I often use for precision soldering). Take a look at the 8 prongs/pins for the connection. I wonder if two are touching and could be gently nudged back into shape.

I checked the connections and found out that the tracks of theETHERNET (NON PoE)for LAN IC of the port-2 have been damaged. I will either have to use one port or give the CPU to repair. Thanks again.
