I am busy with a project using the CP 343-1 IT (GX11) as FTP server. We are unable to create more than about 165/166 files in the /ram area. This is not due to file size, as the GX11 should support 300k in /ram - our files are only 200bytes each which is a total of only 33k at 166 files.

I have tried putting more files in subdirectories, but the limit is still applied. If I delete one file, I can copy another but no more. Again, it is not file size as I can, for example, delete one 200-byte file and replace it with a 100k file.

I have tried creating files from within the S7 station, using the FTP function of Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer and third-party FTP clients like CuteFTP - all are unable to create more than this number of files.

The problem is found on other S7 stations also with the GX11. I don't know about the GX20.

I found a firmware update for the GX20, but no mention of this particular problem.

There seems to be vast improvement in the speed of internal FTP transfers from CPU to CP.

However, the file system limit still exists although it causes errors after about 508 files as opposed to 160 files. Exceeding this limit seems to be more damaging than before- when trying to copy more files in subfolders it often renders the entire /ram area unreadable.
