I purchased a Logo 230rce 0ba8 bundle with wincc basic v13 s1/TIA Portal/Logo! Soft Comfort V8. 

I wrote a simple program in ladder on Soft Comfort, then my employer decided it would be good to have an HMI (i agree), so i ordered a KTP700 basic (profinet). 

I've done some simple ladder in the past so the programming in soft comfort wasnt too difficult, however i am having a really hard time with using Wincc to integrate in the HMI. Most documentation i've found assumes the reader has more knowledge than i do, and most tutorial videos i've found are not in English.

I have several questions that i can't seem to find answers to that i can understand:

1) Is there an actual way to select the 0ba8 as my device in Wincc as if it were other supported Simatic hardware so i can follow some of the tutorials I've found, or do i need to link my I/O's between the HMI and Logo in some sort of roundabout way that i'm not finding? The tutorials i've found describe a Data Block which i can only assume i cannot see in my software due to the fact that i cannot add the 0ba8 as a device yet. This makes it difficult to follow the video tutorials because i can't tell if i am missing something.

2) From what i read, it seems that i should be using M0.1, M0.2, etc as input and outputs between the HMI and the 0ba8 insead of I and Q. Is this correct? 

3) I have a symbolic i/o field being used as a drop down menu to select a product that will be run in the machine i built. The selection then needs to change the value in a counter in my program i made in Logo Soft Comfort. From what i can tell, i need to create a tag in Wincc and set it to output an integer, which would in turn change the parameter value in my counter. Does this sound right? If so, how do i manage it on the Soft Comfort side?

Thanks in advance, and i am sorry for the stupid questions. I can only really learn by doing which makes the manuals quite difficult. If anyone has any links to video tutorials, that would be greatly appreciated. I've been watching all the ones by TheReimber on YouTube, but the software he is using is a different version so i am not sure how much translates over.

I have had the same problems, but they are solved, this by exercies and trying and trying and so on.

I have made a lot of notes how te do the settings in LOGO (0BA8 an 0BA7) and a HMI (KTP600)

Thank you guys, i found some good information that answered my first question those links. I know i read through them before, but sometimes i need to read other stuff before the terminology makes any sense.

I'm still stuck on two things, and i can't seem to find examples of this seemingly simple task anywhere. 

The first thing is can i use an output in my plc program in Logo! Soft Comfort to go to a specific screen in the HMI? For example, when Q4 is active, i want the HMI to go to screen_4. If so, how can i do that?

Secondly, my machine is going to cycle multiple times based on a selection from a graphic i/o field in my HMI. I have watched some videos on how to use the graphic i/o field, but i can't seem to find one that shows me how to integrate it into my plc program. 
For example, when i choose "4 passes" from a drop down menu in the HMI, i would like my PLC to make a motor move through a sensor 4 times and then stop.

For example, In another ladder program i used in a CNC machine, a word variable from the hmi could be used to preset a counter to whatever tool number was selected, and the counter would count down from that value to zero then turn on or off the output. Can i do that here? And if so, how?
