Worst Geek Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	Hi all, In case of ET 200M we have Redundant bundlebut due to large amount of I/Os it will be nice if alaong with S7 414H redundant that can happenwan with ET 200S. Do we have such redundant bundle in ET 200S and if ready made bundle is not available,is that possible to make redundant system with it?? Please guide.. Regards.

But to connect a ET200S with a H-System redundant you should use Y-Coupler. More information can be found in the following manual. In chapter 1.2.5 is described how the Y-Link could be integrated in a Automation system. Chapter8 describes how this can be configured in Step 7. Bus links DP/PA coupler, DP/PA link and Y link

Worst Geek Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	Hi INS, Thanks very much for the document. I have seen the fig. 1.4 on page no. 1.2.5. Does it mean that if i take S7-400H redundant and in the lower hierachy IM 153-2 Red and then all the I/Os on ET 200S, it will make redundant system??

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 1/12/2026 Posts: 12480 Rating: (2722)	Hello Geek; Just to add a detail or two to INS's post, there are limitations that are inherrent to a switched I/O setup using a Y-Link, and that have to be respected in your design: Configuration Options and Restrictions A redundant DP master system can be expanded with Y-links as follows: _ The number of Y-links on a redundant DP master system is only limited by themaximum number of bus nodes (126). _ Only one Y-coupler can be operated in each Y-link. DP/PA couplers cannot beoperated in the Y-link. _ The number of nodes in each subordinate DP master system is limited to 31.The total number of slots is limited to 223. _ The configuration frame and the user data frames of the Y-link each consist ofthe frame contents of the subordinate slaves. The maximum length of theconfiguration frame and the maximum frame length for I/O data for each Y-linkis 244 bytes. _ The ET 200M should not be connected to the redundant DP master system viathe Y-link; it should be connected via the IM 153 ._ It is not permissible to cascade Y-links._ Direct communication (slave-to-slave)and equidistance are not possible in the subordinate DPmaster system. I am also attaching tan illustration that shows the different combinations of redundant I/O setups with a S7-400H system. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier . "The ET 200M should not be connected to the redundant DP master system via the Y-link; it should be connected via the IM 153." I hope you mean "ET 200S should not be connetcted...... via the IM 153". It is an extract from the document Y-Link Bus Coupler, Version 2, dated 2000. The confusion comes from the fact that at the time the IM157 was used as an interface for the DP/PA link and the Y-Link, the IM153 was used for the ET 200M. Now the IM 157 has been replaced by the IM 153-2.A newer price list gives this information: SIMATIC DP, IM153-2 INTERFACE FOR EXPANDED TEMPERATURE RANGE IM153-2 COUPLER MOD. DP/PA LINK THE IM153 AND ONE OR MORE DP/PA COUPLERS FORM THE DP/PA LINK DPV1.SLAVE (SUBSTITUTE FOR IM 157) An ET 200M uses 2 IM 153-2s in parallel to connect the I/O modules to the redundant PLCs. I've attached another illustration from the Y-Link document, showing how to connect an ET 200S to a S7-400H system.
