My question is that IIoT product MindConnect Nano is advertised both as an Industrial PC and a gateway. I would like to know that for process control do we necessarily have to use PLC with this product or can we just connect it with IM ET200 and program in the MindConnect Nano. Also can peripherals and LCD display can be connected directly with this IPC/Gateway. Furthermore can the functionality of mindsphere fill in for SCADA? It runs on MindConnect software but what options does this software offer and what does it look like?

 Hi,

the MindConnect Nano is a special variant of the IPC Nanobox and made for cloud connectivity to MindSphere. It can fetch data via S7-Connection and OPC UA to transfer it into MindSphere in desired intervals.

On the MindConnect Nano you can NOT run Windows applications like on regular Nanoboxes. You also can NOT connect any kind of monitors or keyboard, mouse peripherals. The MindConnect Nanobox is made to be accessed via webinterface to configure the MindShere connectivity. Nothing less and nothing more.

The IM ET200 doesn't support S7 or OPC UA as far as i remember, that means you need a PLC first to get the data out of the Interface Module and then offer it via S7-Connection or OPC UA to MindConnect Nanobox.

Regarding your SCADA question im not sure if i understood correctly. You can also transfer data out of your SCADA system with OPC UA to MindSphere (Via MindConnect Nano).
