In manual it says that data is stored inside two registers and have type float. Does it means that whole number is stored inside 32 bits (one register is 16bit) or 64 bits (one register is 32bit)?  And what bit and register order should we use?

A float is very different to storing an integer, yes it's 32 bit, two registers but it's not as easy as just swapping them around, part of the first word is a mantissa, and the rest is the number.

Google Floating Point Numbers, usually the receiving software can sort this out for you, but I'm having the same trouble with a Double, which my OPC can't deal with.

It would of course bee really really useful if Siemens explained how the data is stored in their manuals, but obviously they don't!!

We are trying to fetch data from SENTRON PAC3200 (7KM9300-0AE01-0AA0) directly to Wonderware InTouch but we getting garbage data.

For example we are trying to get measured line frequency so we are expecting value of 50Hz but we are getting value of 16968 (0x46849000). In case of voltage we are expecting 230V but we are getting 17252 (0x4686c800). Both values are appearing on PAC's display as we are expecting (~50Hz and ~230V). Also when we connect PAC to PLC s7 via Profinet and then read data in TIA Portal everything works fine.

In ArchestrA System Manager we are using DASMBTCP server for Modbus connection. We have Item Reference of frequency set to 400056 (because in manual it has offset of 55 and we are using non-zero based addressing). For voltage we have Item Reference of 400002 (offset 1). We were trying to change bit order or register order but none of them seems to work. Inside InTouch we are treating that input as type I/O real. What did we missed?

I'm having the same issue with PAC3200 and DASMBTCP.

Funny thing is that DASMBTCP works perfectly with other Modbus TCP devices like SE PLCs and it reads various data types just fine: bool, int, uint, long, float..

SOLVED!

For anyone who would come across the same issue:

In DASMBTCP Modbus PLC Device Settings uncheck "Use concept data structures (Reals)" checkbox. DASMBTCP server somehow messes up byte/register order and ignores "Register Order" setting with this particular device (PAC3200).
