level sensor problem

Richardphd Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hello A Logo plus AN2 coupled to a 4 to 20mA level sensor and a solenoid valve is used to control the water level in a tank. However when the independent power supply to the level senor failed the tank overfilled. Presumably because 0mA was interpreted as low level. Is there an exemplar diagram available for a fail-safe design, whereby in the event of 0mA from the level sensor the solenoid remains closed? Many thanks Richard

In this case, you have to select the sensor type 0-20 mA instead of 4-20 mA and convert your measuring range accordingly. Then you can evaluate the value to less than 4 mA. Write which physical measuring range the sensor has and I'll give you an example. 4 mA =? 20 mA =?
