I was wondering if I can add my Intel 82574L Gigabit Network Connection  network card as an IE general in my hardware configuration so that I can use this network card for a direct link to my S7 PLC to use OPC.

The problem is that my Simatic manager only tells me that my CP1613 card is able to do this and I have no idea how to make it so that I can use the other card so that I can make a connection with that one. If I add the IE General card in the HW configurator and set the IP of that card to the real IP of the 82574L network card and try to download it says that the card can't be found.

Please help me, this is an urgent issue and I'm out of options..

have you add the IE Generel in the station manage of the IPC?Iy you do this you can select which Networkcard you use with this IE General.(Component Configurator on IPC)

Would you mind explaining your answer more in depth? I don't really know what you mean.. 

I'm quite new to all of this as I'm a student and I've been introduced to the whole Simatic workings.

Did you mean add the IE general component in the Hardware configuration of the IPC in Simatic or do you mean to actually go into the station configurator on the IPC itself?
