For S7-1200 to read 50 motors would require quite a few s7-1200's.  Each s7-1215 for example has 6 HSC inputs.  You can add a signal board to add a couple more, but for simplicity, let's say 6 per plc.

To capture 50 speed values using the plc HSC inputs would require 50/6 PLCs, or 9 s7-1215's.

To have a single plc contain the 50 motor values would require some thinking so you do not exceed the maximum # of S7 connections on any one PLC.

If you set say 4 up as an I-device to one PLC, and 4 more as an I-device, and then choose one of the masters to be the ultimate master plc, and have the other master (with 4 I-devices) use S7 PUT to send all the HSC input values, or 5x6.  That is up to 30 motor speeds via HSC input for each master PLC with 4 I-device s7-1200's.

You might consider other options.  Now, if these motor speeds are slow enough that a standard digital input can count pulses fast enough to not lose any, well, that's entirely different.

i have question concerning an encoder config in tia portal v13 s7-1200 plc driver.

I have knowledge how A/B 1x and 4x works - the majority of encoders has got outputs adjusted to this standard.

However i don't understand "two phase: configuration. I have read somewhere that this encoder gives one signal if shaft moves CW direction and second signal if it moves CCW direction. Do I properly understand they dont' appear simultaneously ? Can anybody pass me an url with example of this encoder wirth datasheet/manual ?

I have an appllication where the information about the move's direction of the motor is not necessary. Using A/B mode means i have to use for example 100 inputs for 50 motors. Can i use "single phase" instead od "A/B", taking advantage of only 50 inputs ?
