Is it logical to put the fuse terminal in the digital input channels path?

Split from Protection Device Selection.

For DC digital inputs it is better to fuse the each i/o module supply collectively. All field devices/machine groups are fused generally to limit current and prevent whole panel going down because of one faulty device.

Using individual fuse for digital input channels (DC) IMHO does not protect the module/channel from field faults, because a low rating fuse will cause nuisance tripping, while a high rating fuse will blow the module as well as fuse. It would be better to consult the customer as individual fuse on each channel will drive the cost up but provide little benefit.
