I had exactly the same problem with a WP231. Not sure why but after a random power cycle or after uploading a hw configuration it would do this. But not always.

Thankfully the device also has the capability to communicate over Modbus TCP, so i've decoupled it from the S7-1200 and used that form of communication instead.

2) Did you gave WP241 or 231 1L,1L , 1M,1M external 24VDC ?

2. yes, i connected 24VDC to one set of the 1L+ 1M terminals on the wp231

But i would really like this to communicate with my controller as my application might require custom totallizers or flow and weight.

The S7-1200 CPU supports modbus TCP communication so you can exchange data with the Siwarex module over an ethernet cable (switch ...)

 i was able to communicate with swiarex wp 241 through modbus tcp just fine. do you have any way that i can pull some data for one db and other data to other DB.

Use two modbus instructions with different pointers ?

I only needed to read one data record as it had all the process values i wanted. DR30 with the WP231.
