Please refer attached sheet. Hydraulic oil temp is measured by sensor & value is transfered via I/O link to PLC at  IW170 which is moved to MW72. Next the value is updated by shifting 2 bits to right by an instrunction SHR_W.

My question is, since it is contineously sensed, measured & moved to MW72, why SHR_W instrunction is used?

A type of scaling is done. For each shift right is a divide by two. So Shifting two spaces is divide by 4. The logic can be reduced to less code, but possibly the structure had a reason in the development stage. Unless the in-between steps were monitored for design fault-finding.

only one thing from my point of view, that entry condition hasn't logical reason because it works simply also like everytime. Simply I expect there only bit like each cycle and not that bool conditions. Really I feel that programmer want implement something what probably doesn't work here...

Is this a temperature switch? Maybe the lowest two bits are the status of the switch set points.

You need to refer to the IO-Link definition for the device to see how the bits are assigned.

It might report the temp in 0.1 deg Resolution explaining the divide by 10.

Yes it is temp sensor, application is to measure hydraulic oil temp & it is connected via I/O link. I shall check the accuracy of sensor.
