TP170A Backup and Restore

Alb Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hello, I'm hope that someone can give me some guidance I have some questions regaring the TP170A panel backup/restore. I have a panel that has the screen broken. I need to extract software from this panel for upload to a new panel. Note I dont have the original source code for the project. I just need the new panel programmed. I have done the following so far: 1) Made up NULL modem cable. 2) Downloaded Prosave V7.4.1 3) I assume I connect to interface IF1A on panel ? 4) How do I instigate the backup process as the screen is damaged ? 5) Can I do this whilist it still connect to the machine ? 6) I don't know the baudrate of the panel, will Prosave auto baud detect ? 7) Will prosave V7.4.1 work with all variants of TP170A software ? 8) Is there anything to be aware of regarding therestore to the new panel ? Any help appreciated.

To dothis, you have to have a functional display. With a lot of luck, there is a tag in the plc, what triggers the panel into the transfer mode. But this is not a standard, the programmer hopefully provided this.

Alb Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Rolland, Many thanks for the quick reply. Yes that article is just what I need. I'll check in the manual to locate the 'transfer' button, I assume they don't mean its a function on the display. As you say, from a cold boot it may scan the RS232 port, possibly even look for a handshake to go into this mode. I'm sure there must have been many incidents where the panel electronics is functioing but the screen/touch screen was damaged and unusable. So lets hope the designers have done there stuff and I get comms when I plug the cable in. I'm planning to leave it connected to the to machine and just power it up and down with the laptop and comms cable in with prosave running. Thanks again Regards Albert
