I'm trying to start HMI simulation on VM and on Tia, it gives connection error when I hit "Start Simulation" after selecting the HMI.

I've also chekced runtime manager and it says "General error during processing".

Can you help me solve this?

maybe check your installed updates/versions.

A TIA Update does not update your simulation software. Therefore you need to install these updates aswell.

Maybe rerunning the unified configuration afterwards does the rest.

Weird thing is if I try to run it locally on my laptop, it's working flawlessly.

This message usually indicates that an important service is not running.
(e.g. WCCILScsService or UmclService)

The start of these services is authorized by default by the Windows NT service, which is a member of the SIMATIC HMI and UM Service Accounts user groups, for example.

If the computer is running in a domain, I believe you should contact the local IT department or the domain administrator to adjust the group policies accordingly so that the service can be started properly.

Because i have the same issue with the general error. I tried so many things but nothing changed.

I have exactly the same problem.

It works just fine and then after some delta loads and changements of Faceplates, it gives this error.

Only restarting the PC (VM Ware) fixes the problem. Then after some delta loads it reappears.

Very annoying I must say.

I run Win 11 and TIA20.

Certificates are fine. It works most of the time.

As a workaround, i found that when the transfer goes slower, I just restart TIA (only engineering, not the runtime or PLC Sim). After that it keeps working fine. I repeat that when it gets slow again.

For an 8 hour workday, I need 2-3 restarts of TIA.

Installed the update, cleared the temp data. Same problem.

After a couple of delta downloads, the "Prepare download to device" gets really slow. If I try to continue after that, it all stops working like before. If I restart TIA portal after this, it works fine again.

I'm having the exact same problem as well running Tia V20 Update 1.

After about 10 successful downloads it starts to slow down and eventually I got a generic error in runtime manager.

Restarting the Tia Portal seems to solve the problem most of the times.
