looks that you Installation of S7Dos (Communication drivers for connections to PLC) is damaged.

This dll should be located in the folders
C:\Program Files\Siemens\Automation\Portal V14\bin  

C:\Program Files\Siemens\Automation\S7-PLCSIM V14

Can you check the Folders if the File exists?

If i see it correctly you have installed TIA V14 SP1 UPD1 ?
Have you also installed PLCSIM ? If yes with which Version?

I don't see any options to uninstall in the Portal view.

I HAVE the option in "Programs and Features " in the Windows control panel - but that is PLCSIM V14 SP1 - not just UPD1  - is that the right choice ? - see screenshot.

And can I reinstall PLCSIM in the latest version afterwards (it CAN be useful) ?

Hi,

no you have installed the latest Versions of the SW (PLCSIM V14 SP1 UPD1).

You can try to uninstall PLCSIM V14 SP1 UPD1 complete and show if the problem with the TIA Crash is solved.

yes this is the correct entry.

Not all Update levels are listed in the "Program and features", only the Main Verison V14 SP1.

If you uninstall it then the actual UPD Level is uninstalled.

You can reinstall it but first i think you should complete uninstall it (delet all Folders after uninstall which are not deleted , search for PLCSIM V14 on the ssystem).

After the uninstall check if TIA is now runing without Crash, if yes then you can install it again .

Well - it is not your fault - but it IS really annoying wasting time on that - but I better just get over that and learn NOT to install updates until I absolutely can't do without them.

What is the correct procedure to reinstall the whole TIA Portal with S7 WinCC Advanced and PLCSIM - in the newest version and including the updates ?

Do I need to export my licenses to an USB stick in order not to loose them ?

Is it just the trial SW I install and then import the licenses again ?

Can you give me the link(s) to the right places to download all the packages (and if there is any tips to install it) ?

ok is the same Crash like the one before.

So something goes wrong with the installed packages on your system.

The only way i see in the moment is a complete reinstall of TIA V14 :(

Yes - I have V13 SP2 TIA Portal installed also - and I can open open the Project View in that - hopefully all still works.

Not sure if I cannot manage without V13 - I really do not desire to install that ALSO - or can I perhaps only uninstall the V14 parts (and if so how) ?

I am getting somewhat frustrated :-(

I uninstalled all that was named anything with V14 (via the Windows control panel /uninstall feature) and searced for and deleted the folders with V14 (as described  here: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/76325723/how-do-you-uninstall-step-7-(tia-portal)-completely-?dti=0&lc=en-WW)

I reboted the PC and after that I COULD install TIA V14 S7 & TIA V14 WinCC Advanced and after that the update (SIMATIC TIAP V14.0 SP1 Upd1) could be installed without failing.

I then rebooted (for the 117 th time today) and started TIA V14. But it crashed AGAIN as soon as I tried to switch to Project View.

I will attach the crash report again - can you see if it is still the same thing ?

It looks like I have to remove TIA V13 also so the TIA portal is completely gone from the PC - is this the case ?

If that is the case I also have to reinstall the newest versions of TIA V13 S7, WinCC Advance and PLCSIM - can you provide the links for those downloads too ?

I am using my company logon (AD) so I suppose that is a LAN/domain account. But I DO have local admin rights to install SW. That is via a temporary unlock function. Is that what you mean or how do I do it ?

As I stated - I cannot seem to get a complete TIA V13 installation anymore - it seems TIA V14 must handle the WinCC (Advanced) side of that - or am I mistaken ? So it is hard to verify that "all is working" or what ?

When you say repair do you mean to use the "repair function" in the installation files or how can I repair ?

I have followed the uninstallation procedure described earlier - but the installation still fails (as shown in the logs attached earlier). But I HAVE installed the software and had it working until the latest update so it is very frustrating.

Am I using the right SW options and the right order (when I want to install TIA V13 and TIA V14 both with S7 professional and WinCC advanced and PLCSIM ?

Are you using your network (LAN/domain) account or a local laptop admin account?

I suggest for the installation, you temporarily grant your domain account local admin rights, then restart your laptop.

Then repair the v13 installation using your domain account.

Next, restart and verify your V13 is working properly.

Now try repair on the v14 install, again using the domain account.

Restart as required and verify your V13 is still working. If it is, close it and open V14 and see if it works properly.

I think you are running into security issues and not have proper privileges during the installs.  No real reason to say this other than the fact it should have been working and isn't.

If you are savvy in the reviewing the windows event logs, try looking over them to find hints at what errors are being creating during the repairs and see if there is a permission issue on some folder, or some other thing you can fix. If you find the software is being blocked by some windows group policy set by your company I.T. group, they will have to install the software for you using their installation account that gets around these problems.

I constantly run into these types of problems.

I don't know if I should end this thread and start a new one since my situation and needs have changed - I do no longer have a working TIA V13 and a crashing TIA V14. Now nothing works and my situation /needs are:

Nothing works and I cannot install TIA to a working state. I need to remove "all traces" of TIA from the PC and then reinstall TIA V13 and TIA V14 both with Step 7 Professional and WinCC Advanced and PLCSIM.

HOW do I do that ? Our IT department is busy and have a long delivery time so I would really prefer if I could get it done with some guidance from here.

Or is there a better "Siemens helpdesk" I can use - maybe where they can get access to my screen via Skype for business ?

This is really difficult software to install to a working condition - it MIGHT tell me what is going wrong (in some log) but not in a clear and comprehensible (to me) language.

Still - I DID get it installed (to a working state) once - so it MUST be possible to do it again - but HOW ?

That is only an option as a very last resort. I use several other pieces of software besides Siemens TIA and WinCC and it will take a LOT of time to  get the PC back in usable order.

Time which I am hard pressed to find.

Surely some clever Siemens people can figure out what needs to be uninstalled /deleted /reinstalled to get the TIA back in working order ?

I know you can read the crash reports - do they not indicate WHY it crashes and hint at what to do - or what is the purpose of them ?

it crashes because the dll (or a referenced dll from it) can't be loaded.

This can be caused by a defect dll, missing access rights ......

The crash report say nothing why the dll can't be loaded , only that is not possible!

It can also be that the AntivirusSW blocks the access to the dll or something like that.

I looked at that MS page but I cannot even find "My Computer" - I searched for it. I am however pretty sure I DO have the rights. I know I DO have the option to "run as Administrator".

I used CCleaner both to clear general debris and to clean the registry before the previous Installation attemps. But I did not run the installs as Administrator.

And There MIGHT have been some residual Siemens files on the system.

Now I have ALSO uninstalled WinCC 7.4 (unrelated to TIA) and removed/deleted any Siemens / Simatic files on the PC. I will run CCleaner also and reboot.

Would it be OK to install TIA V14 first and then V13 after - or do I HAVE ti install V13 first if i want it ??

Please verify you have local admin rights and have restarted your laptop since the temporary allowance for local admin rights. ( https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/jhoward/2005/01/06/do-i-have-local-admin-rights-find-out-how-in-three-mouse-clicks-or-two-keys-plus-a-mouse-click/ )

Now that you know you have these rights, you have to exercise those rights when you launch the install by ctrl-right-click the setup.exe file for your install.  Use the "Run as Administrator" option rather than simply double-clicking.

You may want to do some windows PM before attempting a new install.

Most definitely.  Being admin and clicking install is NOT the same thing.

After cleaning up as previously posted I just tried again.

I started with  SIMATIC STEP 7 Professional V13.0 SP2 and it seemed to install without errors.

As far as I can read it is not possible to download a WinCC Anvanced for V13.0 SP2 anymore so that must be handled by V14 SP1 - is that correct ?

Then I tried to install SIMATIC_S7_PLCSIM_V13_00_02_00 but it ended with errors - see attached error report.

What does this/these errors mean and how do I fix it ?

I will now uninstall / clean up again and try to start with V14 SP1 - I hope I can install V13 SP2 afterwards (if I am successful )?

I did find the SP2 files - thanks - I should have posted that.

As always please see attached screenshots and crash dumps.

Now I CAN open the project view and move around in the files. It makes a crash when I close the TIA Portal (see first crash dump) - that would be tolerable.

What is not possible to work with is that it also crashes when I try to start a simulation of the HMI (MON) (see second crash dump).

I managed (as administrator) to install all of the program parts with the exception of SIMATIC TIAP V14.0 SP1 Upd1 and a small Sinamics update (HSP0185). For some reason the SP1 Upd1 package will not install. I have tried directly from the downloaded file and via the TIA Updater (and now the installed says it cannot be removed either). The HSP0185 I have not dared trying to install since it seemed that the failed installation of that one was was made the crashing start in the first place.

What is the next step in getting my TIA SW work ?

From the attached summary logfile is only readable that some files are missing or can't be accessed.

This often happen if a Antivurs SW is blocking the files, have you disabled/uninstalled the AntivursSW before you try to install the SW?

I do not have the option to disable the AV (kindly managed by the IT department for security reasons).

But I DID succeed in installing both TIA V13 and TIA V14 with the AV running so I am guessing the reasom for the missing files must be somewhere else - just hard to find.

Crash Dump (first one) say:

System.IO.FileNotFoundException:

Could not load file or assembly 'S7O.CommonInterfaces, Version=901.200.101.2, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

​So is also a defective installation with some missing files on your system.

First I want to say a big thank you to ChristophD and huggy_d1. You guys really tried hard to help me.

I had to thrown in the towel and got my PC completely erased and reinstalled. So I have a lot of things to put in place BUT I have TIA V13 and V14 that seem to work. I did not dare to install the HSP0185 Sinamics V90 V1.0 update (and I am not using Sinamics) since it LOOKED like the faillure to install that driver started all my problems) but other than that my TIA SW is fully updated.

But it REALLY sucks that the uninstall feature in the TIA install packages doesn't clean up enough so that TIA can be reinstalled WITHOUT formatting the HD.

When I started my PC this morning the TIA Updater advised my that I needed to update some of the elements in the TIA portal. I tried to do it and - after some difficulties - mostly succeeded - see first and second screenshot what was missing.

I then tried downloading and installing this missing support package and it seems to work - BUT it ends with a red and white cross in the line so it has failed.

I do however not need the Sinamatic part of my TIA so I though I can live with that.

BUT when I open the TIA portal and try to switch to Project View the TIA portal crashes.

I searched on the Support forum and I downloaded the HSP package for TIA V14 and unzipped it - see the link below:

I also struggled with this problem for a long time.

I solved it by installing Tia V14 SP1 on another PC.

Copied out the file ‘s7o.commoninterfaces.dll’ under ‘C:\Program Files\Common Files\Siemens\Automation\Simatic OAM\bin’.

Then I pasted it into the problem PC and lo and behold everything works again.

I have attached them, maybe it works with the upload.
