Set Profibus address to slave with TIA Portal

I'm using TIA Portal V16, with CPU 1516-3 PN/DP. This slave device, which is a laser, is provided with the default DP address of 126. Unlike other many Profibus component, this laser doesn't include physical switches to set DP address. It must be done by software. I used dozens of these Profibus lasers in the past, and it was quite easy to set Profibus address with Simatic Step 7 V5.5 and earlier. Procedure was : in HWCONFIG, go to "Target system", "PROFIBUS", "Set Profibus address". Straightforward. How to perform such setting with TIA PORTAL ? PS : I do have Siemens USB Adapter A2 if required.

Chances are high that theres a point with "Assign PB-address". the same way you can assign PN device-names and Profisafe-addresses. hope this helps, regards,

But I tested and I am afraid I either found no way to assign a Profibus-address via TIA. But I also found an other entry here in the german forum. Arno81 is refering to a TIA help entry: Changing the device configuration online maybe it doesn´t work in my environment, because my slave didn´t support this function. Have a try. If this doesn´t work, I recommend you to search for an external tool. regards,
