i have a shaping machine that has been brought in to be rebuilt and upgraded. it has a siemens 840d power line system which i am not familiar with. in an effort to start up the control we did a general reset of both the NC and PLC. however when trying to load the PLC into the control we get a cannot compile block error every time we reach FB138. also several other blocks if you try and continue. we have found that every block that fails to compile is related to DB10.

in an effort to erase as many possibilities as we could we have tried

1. loading several different PLCs to disprove faulty PLC (different versions of the same PLC, an archive, PLC from a different but identical machine)

2. installed a different NCU

3. installed a new PC card

all of these trials produce the exact same error. 

the control has simodrive 611 system

NCU box 13A (6fc5247-0aa00-0aa3)

16MB 12 axes PCMCIA memory card

NCU battery is measuring at 3.1V on 3V battery

Welcome to forum. You should have open this topic in SINUMERIK CNC automation systems product conference since it is related to 840D controller.

1. Please try to restore/reload NC,PLC latest back up of same date.

2. Please clear NC, PLC check if 7 segment display indicates 6 & no fault or error is displayed on OP screen. Then try to restore NC first & then restore PLC back up.

we have tried loading the latest archive, as well as the original PLC supplied with the machine at manufacture, several PLC versions that were updates throught the machines history. all create the same issue.

when we do the general reset we do get 6 on the display, but we have a PLC not started error on the screen.

i had tried loading the NC archive first earlier. the NC loads, but it doesnt seem to effect the PLC issue
