Can we use the lamp technique(Connecting 100W lamps in series to U,V,W ) for forming the capacitor? The manual mentioned a graph with power applied time(That too in the Y graph, its mentioned U(V)). I saw the below video for sinamics S120 booksize module. Can we use the same technique for PM240-2 drive? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWkVNaFgPY8 |

Hello Genn123, yes, the forming with lamps is also possible with PM240-2, see also the S120 AC Drive manual. There in chapter 12.4 it is shown as well. And to your previous question:
Using U, V and W , you have the internal pre charging in your forming circuit included, thats why using the free wheeling diodes of the output circuit is preferred. The pre charging circuit is not suitable to be used for the forming. |

Hello, Cannot refer you tube video you mentioned since IT admin has blocked youtube site. You can use incandescent lamps at input supply side while forming DC link capacitor but apply input voltage as below cycle. 25% of input supply voltage for first 2hrs, then 50% of input supply voltage for next 2 hrs, next 75% of input supply voltage for next 2 hrs, & 100% input supply voltage for next 2 hrs.i.e. total 8 hrs charging cycle time. Please refer attached sheet. Hope this helps. |
