S7-1200 extended module malfunctioning

dearj06 Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	I am using s7-1200 1214C AC/DC/RLY(6es7 214-1bg31-0xb0) with extended module 16DI/16D0 SM 1223 DC/RLY (6es7 223-1pl32-0xb0). I am having issue in extended module if some one could tell me the cause. I enabled the output of extended module from inputs however the output is not working, there is no output voltage coming out or heard any relay energizing sound from that module why is that? Even though output leds are turning on but zero volt on terminal side. Hardware configuration is perfect even the wiring is also done as per the manual.

Please review the wiring diagram fir the SM1223-1PL32, attached below and check all the power connections, including the 24 V L+/M- connections on all the output groups. Possibly the polarity is reversed or it is defective. And I would check the relay on the EM. Measurement with an Ohm meter. When the relay switches, 0 ohms must be measurable. Greetings Georg

You should not do that. It is not user serviceable. 2. The Ground terminal is not connected to earth. On the digital outputs, I see 2 wires for L+ and M. I tried to trace the wiring by eye from the posted image, but the orb got me confused and I could not tell what was happening. The module power L+ and M (next to the ground terminal) are not coming from the same source as the DQ's. Why? I see the first 5 DQs lit. That requires more wires than you have connected in order to fully work. 1L is for .0 to .3 on the bottom section - top terminal block. 2L is for .4 to .7 on the bottom section - top terminal block. 2L is not connected, so .4 (shown as activated by LED) is not going to work. dearj06 i followed the drawing but still not working

Nevertheless, I want to write my view on 0_Einstein's objections. - I also see opening the case as not necessary. - It is not necessary to connect the minus potential to earth. These are modules that can work with both a SELV and a PELV voltage. - Also, the block of 4 relay outputs does not have to be connected to the supply of the module. Because that's the idea behind it. Thus, other potentials can also be switched. Like 230V AC. - The first 5 LEDs light up. Thus, output x.0 to x.4 are activated. 1L for x.0 to x.3 is connected. Thus, a voltage should be measurable at x.0. Here you go to the lamp and then further back to the minus of the power supply. Right in my eyes. Except that the lamp doesn't light up. Hence my guess. Lamp defective. Or the polarity of the lamp is reversed (if it is an LED), or the relay does not pick up, so that the +24V does not reach the lamp. Greeting Georg

Or, do you mean the 24VDC supply (meant to supply switches and relay contacts) was getting overloaded by how it was being used, or it failed completely? dearj06 Problem solved!
