WinCC TIA Portal Migration

Ehsan.nami Experienced Member Joined: 9/27/2014 Last visit: 7/21/2025 Posts: 50 Rating: (1)	Dear all, I wanted to convert my wincc project (version 7.4) to WinCC TIA Professional v18. In TIA Portal 18 I get the error that wincc should be verion 7.5. The exact error is: "Migration failed because the project was created with a version prior to WinCC V7.5. Convert the project to WinCC V7.5 and migrate it again." But when I want to migrate to version 7.5, I get following error and project opens without any error or message in WinCC v7.5. "A migration is not necessary. The project is already up-to-date". I tried this with wincc v7.5 (without sp), v7.5+sp1 and v7.5+sp2 and it was the same in all versions. Any idea?

itafusna Gold Expert Joined: 2/17/2020 Last visit: 12/26/2025 Posts: 1251 Rating: (237)	Hi, I believe that the migration from WinCC V7 to WinCC Professional V18 has not yet been officially released. My recommendation, if you already have a V18 license, is that you migrate to WinCC Prof V17 (there is backward compatibility in TIA Portal licensing) and then maybe upgrade the project to V18. Useful information: TIA V17- Migrating WinCC V7 projects

Murof Platinum Expert Joined: 8/3/2009 Last visit: 12/19/2025 Posts: 16612 Rating: (1943)	Hello Ehsan.nami As I know you only can migrate WinCC V7.5 (without SP) projects to TIA V18 do open your V7.4 project in WinCC V7.5 System without SP. -> open the project -> Tools-> convert Project data Then you should be able to migrate in TIA Portal to WInCC Professional Bye Murof
