OP3 connected to S7-200 CPU 224 PLC

coolitz012 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi guys!!! I'm just a newbie here and maybe this is also a newbie question. Does OP3 have its own program? or it is dependent to the PLC it is connected? Because eveytime that we incur power failure to our PLC, we thought that OP3 will stop transmitting signal (Input - time) because the program inside of our PLC already stop executing its program. But based on our observations it just continued counting and transmitting signal to the PLC. We understand that OP3 will remain activated although there is power failure because its power is supplied by PLC battery whenever there is power failure. Thank you very much. OP3 is very old panel and it was programmed with panel programming tool called ProTool. You could use some scripts on OP which will work independantly of PLC, but this makes no sense to program something inside OP if its not related to PLC. If PLC is off then you loose connection to it and all tags will be deactivated. So for normal work of OP you allways need PLC.
