I'm currently reverse-engineering a program used in a existing plant for sequence optimization. I want to make a new sequence with pop-up window message in operator client which simply shows a message and a "OK" button for acknowledgment before going for the next step in the SFC.

I realized that this is similar to existing program that uses OPD block to pop-up a message window to operator client in existing SFCs. They simply use an OB35 OPD block whose one input parameter is text to be entered the message that we want to show via CFC. This one is simple and I understand how to do the same for the new SFC.

The one I'm puzzled is how it reads back input from Operator WinCC Client. In the existing SFC transition, it reads acknowledgement status from operator via SFC Characteristics (input side), which is interconnected to a block output in the CFC. This block input isn't connected to another block, but rather to an address to a DataBlock, with S7_m_c set True.

How does this DB address actually able to sense operator acknowledgment? I caouldn't understand how can the WinCC client can send operator ack to this DB address. Am I missing a connection here? I have explored the VB/C Script but got nothing. I have read the OPD block manual but can't find the explanation for this.
