New to Siemens: how to connect HMI from another project to a PLC

ElianTmndz Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	I am new to PLC and HMI programming/linking and was wondering how can I link an HMI I reference from another project to PLC, all of this in simulation (no hardware involve at the moment) what procedures can I take to tagged correctly (I have topology, schematics, IO of the systems just wondering the step by step) Image below shows the errors after compiling the HMI I copied the HMI from a reference project and I have 2 PLCs in the first system with no HMIs.

Check this documentation, it might help: Application description (siemens.com) Otherwise you can give us some more details for a better understanding.

ElianTmndz Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	For the most part I want to retag the HMI to the PLC, I also added some screen of mines (originally the HMI was part of another similar project with slight changes in the networking mapping) HMI: TP1200 Comfort PLC: CPU 1512SP F-1 PN

Murof Platinum Expert Joined: 8/3/2009 Last visit: 1/20/2026 Posts: 16644 Rating: (1944)	Hello ElianTmndz create Proxy data of your PLCs in Project 1-> then create proxy devices in the HMI Project 2 and initialize the proxys with data from project 1 Then create in devices and networks new HMI connections. Get to the connectoin editor in the HMI project. copy the name of the "old" existing connections after copying the HMi, then delete these connections and rename the new connections to the Proxys with the original names from the old ones Then all tags should be reconnected automatically, if not (still red entries) then do the "syschronize with PLC Tags" function in the Tag table to reconnect. Should be an action of 5 minutes. Then you can add your modifications... Bye Murof
