I am working on a migration project from a CPU 341C-2 (6ES7 314-6EH04-0AB0), which includes several modules, among which there are 4 counting channels for incremental encoders. The peculiarity of this CPU is that, unlike others, it uses its own FB called "COUNT_300C."

The problem arises during the migration, as I cannot make a simple switch to using the HSC FB employed by the S7-1500 or 1200 because the variables used by COUNT_300C are completely different. Specifically, I cannot find the internal variables I need: "JOB_DONE," "JOB_VAL," "JOB_ID," "JOB_REQ," "COUNTVAL."

Some, like COUNTVAL, are straightforward, but others use different internal commands to perform functions. I have consulted Siemens, but their response was "figure it out with the HSC" and "there is no other way."

Has anyone ever been in this situation and found an effective method that uses the same pattern

I don't think there is an option, you should use tmcount or the quick input modules.

 Yes, I have the original program. However, the source code of the Count_300C function is encrypted, like most Siemens functions. I will ask technical support again, although they have already told me that, in principle, there is no alternative.

Depending on the situation and how many HSC inputs you need, an s7-1200 as an i-Device (on local I/O) may solve the problem of acquiring high speed count data.  Or, of course, the TM input for S7-1500 (on remote I/O) may offer a path towards a solution.

It will depend on what the COUNT_300C FB states it does.  Do you have the Count_300C FB source?  Was Siemens willing/able to provide it if you did not already have it?
