I've been having some troubles with our WinCC Web Navigator. We are running on V7.5 + SP2 + Upd13. Our users are running on Windows 10 and 11. The issue started about a month ago when users suddenly started getting blank screens when launching the Webnavigator Shortcut that targets our config file which includes the server addres + username/password.

The only thing the user sees is a blank screen with the title "WinCC Web Navigator". It works on half of our machines, the other half gets this blank screen. We thought we figured it out when our users upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11. The webviewer started working again when the users upgraded their OS version, but now we are getting the same issue on Windows 11 as well.

These are some things I've tried already:

- Upgraded the client version
- Re-installed the Webnavigator client.
- Re-installed the browser plug-ins
- Created a config file on the local PC.
- Re-installed and upgraded Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable

I'm not quite sure what the cause of this issue is. Can anybody lead me to a new direction. Could it be the browser version installed on the machines? What browser does the webnavigator use?

It would be strange if the browser causes the issue, since stopped working out of nowhere and works on the other half of the machines, but I'm running out of ideas.

It looks like running WinCC as administrator fixes the issue.

Then I don't needed to start it as admin

I'm still getting the blank "WinCC WebNavigator" screen with a globe logo in the background.

Then you need to create a support request.

It's good to have the workaround "start as admin", but it needs to be solved. Maybe there are other or some more reg keys on win11 that need to be changed.

Unfortunately the support didn't get me anywhere. We are still experiencing the same problem.

If anyone has found a solution, please let us know.

We're still experiencing the same problem, however I did find a lead to the solution. The problem appears to be in the Windows user profiles. At some random point in time the Webviewer stops working and it only shows a blank screen with the "WinCC Webnavigator" title in the middle. When another user logs in to the same computers everything works like normal. Our temporary solution is throwing away the user account and letting the user log to back in to create a new profile. Obviously this isn't the ideal solution.

Does anybody know what could cause this issue? What temporary WinCC files are saved in the user profile. We'd rather just remove the files that cause the problem than throw away the whole user profile.

We have the same issue happening on our Windows 10 22H2 machines. there is a fix that can be done that doesnt require you to remove the user profile.

The way i fixed this issue was with the registry settings mentioned in the article (make sure you run this as the user you are having issues with).

you need to rename the following file in %localappdata%\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Siemens\WinCC\Webnavigator\Client\bin\WINCC_GDI_PLUS_CORE_GUI > WINCC_GDI_PLUS_CORE_GUI.old

once you have done this, restart the PC, get the user to log back in and start WinCC Web Navigator, this should have fixed the problem.
