WinCC V7.5 communication with third party control system via OPC DA or UA

Tech Ahmed Advanced Member Joined: 1/16/2012 Last visit: 6/30/2025 Posts: 127 Rating: (2)	Dear experts, We have WinCC SCADA V7.5 SP5 Update 13 with SOFTNET-IE S7 V17 SP1 installed on the server in the quality control lab, and everything is working fine. Now the customer wants to fetch some data from WinCC SCADA to their plant control system via an OPC DA or UA connection. I am responsible for the WinCC SCADA side. Could you please advise what needs to be done on my side on the WinCC SCADA server? Do I need to purchase any new licenses from Siemens for OPC? I would appreciate any guidance, steps, or manual describing how to configure the WinCC SCADA side for OPC connectivity. Once I complete my part, I will ask the plant control system engineer to handle their side. Thanks. Best regards, Tech Ahmed

Murof Platinum Expert Joined: 8/3/2009 Last visit: 9/4/2025 Posts: 16343 Rating: (1931)	Hello Tech Ahmed to use the OPC UA Server of the WInCC Rutnime you have to install it (from main installation dialog)and you would need a Connectivity pack license that it works. If you only want to use the OPC UA Client channel in WinCC this will not need an additional license.
