Networking 2 S7-200 with rs-485

marwanco62 Posts: 53 Rating: (2)	Hi All, After a lot of reading , still not clear how to config 2 PLC's S7-200 together , in Master-Slave configuration. The model I have are 224 so only one D9 port available on each. What I 'm planning to do: 1.Make rs-485 cable 3 wire with the following connection: 3-3 8-8 1-1 Ground Termination is required ? (Distance around 20 m) 2.After Connecting the cable I will not have any free port to monitor what is happening inside. So How to configure PLC1 to search for available PLC's, Locate PLC2 and if I press I0.0 a bit will be send toto some output port lets say Q0.0 (PLC2), then I will know that there is a communication. And the command that will do the job are Get and Write , correct? 3.Is it better to Buy 226 unit as Master with 2 Ports, to monitor the programme? 4.If I want a peer to peer neteork with 16 PLCs , will RS485 work? or I need something faster. I need to pull/send information every second or so. Ideally Plug and Play network will be ideal, just by connectiong or disconnecting a plc , the master will know wich PLC is connected or disconnected. I dont expect answer to all question, at least a push in correct direction. Thank you for reading.

Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, in short form: 1. You have to config the Master with the Wizard in MW 2. Each PLC in the network requires a different Station-Adress (Systemblock) 3. The Data you can excanche are located in V-Memory 4. up to 126 units can be connected to a PPI network 5. You can also connect a PC to the network More information you can find: 1. It is not an complicated task.

marwanco Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	Thank you for reply, Not working yet. Is the cable that I soldered correct? 3-3 8-8 5-5 Both PLC's with one port, on the desk with very short cable , around 30cm. The PLC that suppose to Write to remote PLC is having address = 2 (set with system block) Push button connected to I0.3 The remote PLC address=3. When Push button is pressed Write message must send byte to address VB100, The remote PLC is coninuasly checking this memory location, and when it become >0 it will energize output Q0.0 So far nothing happened. In the wizard of PLC 1, I specified that remote plc is 3. Still not shure about the cable connection. Thanks

marwanco Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	By connecting 3-3,8-8 and 1-1 with shield, was able to read and write to remote PLC.Cool!. next step will be connecting more PLC, to test the speed of communication. Regards
