manual wiring for Emergency end limit

Ok my questine is Why in most of the CNC machinesEmergency end limit & Emergency stop is wired manually( hardware wiring,not through input). I came across 5 to 6 machines same type of wiring is done in all the machines forE stop.For example : a machine has 4nos of E stop Push button in varies place of machine, in that all E stopare wired in series at last it is given inone input. Same as for EmergencyEnd limit wired parallely with an Bypass push button .When Emergency limit hit , itSwitchON theRelay for E stop. Could any onetell me the reason for manual wiring, why not throughDigital inputs?Is there any advantages in that.

I certainly wouldn't trust my life with my plc program or a single computer processor. Hence Siemens safety integrated double checks everything. Hard wired is generaly seen as more reliable. Pee
