S7-1200 Power considerations

ziceva Experienced Member Joined: 7/27/2009 Last visit: 2/13/2025 Posts: 36 Rating: (1)	Hi, I'm trying to build a rather big S7-1200 configuration and I see that this series has only one type of power supply rated at 2.5A The configuration will have a 1214C DC/DC/DC CPU, one SM1223 (16DI/16DO), two SM1231 (8AI), four SM1232 (4AO), one CB1241, one CM1241 (RS232) and a CM1243-5 (Profibus). Additionally the power supply will be powering a CSM1277 ethernet Switch and a KTP600 Basic color PN touch panel Ultimately, the touch panel can be powered from a separate source, but I am a little worried that the power source will not be able to power everything on the S7-1200 rack ... I tried looking at the documentation for every module, but I see no clear power ratings for them. Does TIA v11 have a power calculator or some sort of configuration consistency check? Or are there any information on the power consumption calculations? Thank you, Ionut Tomita

Gorp Posts: 89 Rating: (16)	The S7-1200 manual contains a power budget calculation. 2,5A is more than enough to supply your system. However, most of the 24V will be used by in- and outputs. How much that is, you have to calculate. But, of coarse there is no obligation to use a S7-1200 power supply, any power supply with the right power will do.
